Being a Security Consultant for ATP

While attending college four years ago, I never once envisioned myself being a security consultant for ATP , a family owned home security company after receiving my diploma. Once I graduated, like most confused twenty year olds, I took the first job that landed on my lap. Luckily for me, that job was sales/marketing for a company in New York City you might have heard of before, Anheuser-Busch. I know what you’re probably thinking, that must be the best gig coming out of college, and honestly it was. Although it was fun, around my one year anniversary with the company I began to wonder if that was the right industry for me. All of my coworkers were great and I was making strides within the company, but something was missing. I felt like I wasn’t making a difference in the world and that truly bothered me at times.

Around the same time I started to question my career, I got a phone call from one of the principal owners (who also happens to be my best friend since the age of 12) of American Total Protection . He explained to me that he was going to work for the family business , and asked if I wanted to join him. In the back of my mind I was unsure if it was something I wanted to do. I was just getting comfortable at my new job, and I knew nothing about the security industry. Fast forward a few years later and here I am happily writing this blog for American Total Protection .

Now don’t get me wrong, I appreciate and enjoyed my time at my previous position, but being at ATP is completely different. Everyday going to work you realize you have the ability to keep a home or business out of harms way. Whether its installing an elaborate camera system at someones house, a basic security system at a mom and pop shop , or fire system at a school, I know what I am doing is something that can truly help someone. With my expertise I know that I can help change the outcome of otherwise certain terrible situations by offering one of the various security related solutions available at ATP . It could be catching a robber on camera and then being able to retrieve your great grandmother’s wedding ring that’s been passed down thru generations; or a fire alarm sounding properly and being able to get all of the nursery school kids out of the building. At the end of the day I know what I am doing is bigger than me. That is why I take such pride in working for ATP , where we say, this is real life . You need a real security company . We are American Total Protection .

The first step to controlling access to your building is the door(s) employees or visitors may enter through. In the morning, do you unlock these doors for the day? Do you leave it locked throughout the day? Who is responsible for these tasks?
