Saving Money with CCTV Do It Yourself Systems?

Today many Big Box stores are offering CCTV do it yourself camera packages with varying degrees of quality. Depending on which system you buy, and your technical ability, this can be a cheaper way get entry level surveillance at your home or small business. However, there are a couple important factors to consider before you purchase a Do it yourself CCTV system .

1. First , before you purchase the system confirm that self-installation will not void the warranty on the system. Many manufacturers require professional installation because it lowers the risk of accidental damage to the system.
2. Second , you should have some experience with wiring as each camera will need to have an independent Coax wire run to it for power and to transmit the video feed back to the DVR. Be sure to have a good idea of where existing electrical wires are run to avoid dangerous mistakes. Take the time to read the manual to make sure it gives clearly outlined steps which you can easily follow. Remember that all adjustments to the cameras to capture the desired shots will need to be done by the self-installer, after install which can add plenty of dangerous ladder time depending on the placement of the cameras.

At ATP Alarms we have worked hard to lower the cost of professional installation of CCTV camera packages. Our highly trained techs can install high resolution cameras at prices just a little north of those lower quality camera packages the big box stores are selling. Not only will you not have to do the taxing physical labor of snaking the wires to the cameras , but you will have the full technical support of ATP . Our tech’s will also give you a tutorial of how the system works with all of its features.

It is also important to keep in mind that video footage captured from a DVR that is not digitally water marked is not admissible in court . Every DVR that ATP installs comes with the digitally water marked feature to prove that the video has not been edited. Scheduling a free consultation with ATP is a great place to start when considering an investment in a CCTV system. Our sales staff can go over several different camera options from analog to IP to tailor a system to meet your surveillance needs and budget concerns. I cannot tell you how many professional CCTV systems we have installed after customers have called us complaining about the quality and (non) functionality of Do it your self-systems that they saved so much money on. The upfront cost of having cameras professionally installed may seem high to some, but it will lower your cost of ownership drastically and your own peace of mind.
