Home Automation in the Living Room – Planning Tips for Winter

Fall is here and winter is coming right along – especially in Hamden, Connecticut – where we have our regional headquarters of  ATP Alarms.  So, in Connecticut, our ATP family is in full swing preparing for Fall and Winter.

Of course, that’s one of the times where you spend the most money on energy costs – heating the home to beat the winter chill. But, this is where home automation in the living room can help make a difference.

Call (844) 287-2576 to Learn About Home Automation in the Living Room. Looking for Planning Tips for Winter? ATP specializes in Home Automation Solutions. Here’s the third installment of our home automation series. We’ve done  the bedroom the kitchen , and now it’s time to  automate the living room .

Save Energy With Home Automation

Invest in a Smart thermostat:
With a smart thermostat, you can program the temperature for any room in the house. So, what if you and the family will be hanging out at 7 in the living room? Then you program the heating lower until it’s almost time, then let it raise the temperature in the room.

Get automated blinds:
Getting heat and lighting into the house is important during the chilly months. So, one way is to use natural light. This reduces your reliance on your electric lights and, therefore, can reduce your energy costs through less use. Program your shades to open and close at optimal times throughout the day to maximize the light.

Upgrade to LEDs Lights:
LEDs burn less energy. During the winter months, night falls earlier, and so you’ll be using the lights more. And since the living room is often a hub of activity, you need a way to keep your lighting bill down. Upgrade your lighting to LEDs to help in this area.

Install Motion Sensor Lightings:
We’ve all forgotten to turn off a light at some point. With motion sensor lighting, they will turn on and off when someone comes into the space and therefore limit energy use. They are also helpful if you have elderly or small children to make it easier for them to move about.
