What are the Benefits of a Temperature Detector?

ATP Alarms has offices in New Hampshire , Connecticut , and Florida . The employees here in New England are often jealous of the weather that our coworkers down in the balmy south get to experience on a regular basis. Being a retired hockey player, I happen to like the snow. However, I can say that I am the minority.

As I am writing this blog, it is 10 degrees with heavy snowfall in Hamden, Connecticut! With these weather conditions, properties throughout New England take a beating. Roofs collapse and pipes freeze. It is a plumber’s and roofer’s gain and a property owner’s worst nightmare. ATP Alarms can offer several solutions to help better protect your investments.

January is typically the slowest month for new sales in the security industry however, our service department could never be busier! With sub-freezing temperatures, many of our clients are experiencing frozen pipes and water damage. Want to know who does not have water damage? Those customers that made the initial investment in a temperature detector!

A temperature detector is an inexpensive device that communicates with your alarm panel when the temperature hits a certain degree , high or low. Meaning, if your furnace ever stopped working and your house was approaching dangerously low temperatures, you would immediately receive a phone call from our monitoring station to alert you of the situation ! This could potentially save you tens of thousands of dollars. Other applications include walk in coolers and freezers where if these units were to fail the situation could be horrendous. In addition, you will receive a discount on your homeowner’s insurance by having a temperature detector. Insurance companies love these devices as it prevents damages to your home!

Along with a temperature detector , we also have “ water bugs ”. Water bugs are great as they detect moisture in your home or business . If there were ever a pipe that burst, with a sensor like this you would immediately be notified and configured with Total Connect you could receive an e-mail and or text in real time. This allows you to take the necessary steps before the situation gets out of control.

These layers of security and through our monitoring station and Total Connect , homeowners will be one step ahead of a potential disaster this winter. If you have any questions about installing a new system or simply adding a temperature detector or water bug to your new system, please do not hesitate to get in touch with an ATP Alarms representative!
